CopyTrans

When you connect a mobile device to your computer, you can explore and manage its contents just like on a removable drive. Specialized applications give you many more possibilities than browsing through a series of files on an explorer window. Formerly known as CopyPod, CopyTrans can be used to transfer music and other media files between iTunes and iPhones, iPods or iPads, back them up, manage contacts, messages or appointments and much more.

The application is free to try, with some restrictions. It is designed to work on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and it supports all iPhone, iPad and iPod models. CopyTrans can be installed with only two clicks and it takes only a few seconds to complete the process.

The software's core modules are listed on a compact user interface. You can find everything you need to back up your iTunes library, transfer photo albums between your PC and an Apple mobile device, back up, restore or recover your iPod's files and more. Each option displays a different interface when selected. In some cases, you may find a large interface, divided in several sections, while in others, you will find a small interface, with only a few options.

When sending music from a mobile device to iTunes, you will find your songs neatly organized according to their genres, artists, albums and other criteria. You can decide to back up your songs manually, to iTunes or a local folder or you can choose a smart backup. The CopyTrans Contacts module is where you can manage your contacts, as well as messages, calendars, notes, reminders and bookmarks. They are displayed on the same window, in different sections and you can add new entries or edit existing ones.

If you wish to keep your iTunes library safe, you can back it up and restore it when you need to. You just need to specify a destination folder on your hard drive and the application will store your entire library as a single file, which can be selected at a later date, if you need to restore the library. If you switch to a new PC, you can use the same backup module to transfer your iTunes library to the new machine. It is also possible to manage several iPod and iTunes libraries, clone iPods, to create full backups and repair iPod libraries or restore deleted files.
